Top Crunch Fitness Franchisee Adds Texas Locations, Eyes 100 Clubs by 2026

CR Fitness Holdings, the largest Crunch franchisee in the Southeast, is taking over two former big-box gyms in Texas

CR Fitness Holdings, a leading Crunch Fitness franchisee, has purchased two new gym facilities in Allen and North Richland Hills in Dallas, Texas, intended to boost CR Fitness’ overall growth strategy.

As the largest Crunch franchisee in the Southeast, the North Castle Partners-backed CR Fitness plans to own and operate 100 clubs by 2026. Earlier this year, Crunch Fitness CEO Jim Rowley stated that the fitness company was embarking on a “very aggressive” expansion plan.

The Dallas gyms were formerly big-box fitness facilities under a different brand and will transform into Crunch gyms on August 1. The new locations join CR Fitness’ 50 other gyms in Texas, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

The Allen and North Richland Hills locations will offer state-of-the-art equipment and amenities and will honor the membership plans from the previous fitness facility. However, new Crunch members can reserve a special founding member’s rate starting at $9.99 per month.

“We were thrilled at the opportunity to purchase these two gyms and breathe new life into them under the Crunch Fitness brand and model,” said CR Fitness Holdings CEO Tony Scrimale. “Both new members and those that are grandfathered in will have access to high-quality equipment, a variety of unique fitness classes and exceptional trainers. We are excited to continue our vision of growth and success for CR Fitness.”

Crunch Fitness recently launched a digital platform, Crunch+, allowing members to enjoy “entertainment fitness” for $6.99 monthly. Rowley said the online platform was partly due to the fitness brand’s increase in memberships and gym locations.

“We felt it was time to elevate our online platform while keeping it the best value in streaming workouts,” Rowley said. “Crunch+ builds upon what we learned from our legacy streaming platform, Crunch Live, and the early days of pandemic-driven remote workouts.”
