AthletechNews is both a website and email newsletter owned by The Brand Society, LLC a/k/a AthletechNews operating in New York City, New York, United States.  AthletechNews provides weekly news updates on the fitness business industry.

AthletechNews will only share your information with third parties if you opt in to such sharing or when you sign up for special events or webinars hosted by AthletechNews.  We may disclose personal information to our corporate subsidiaries or affiliated entities.  Any personal information provided to our subsidiaries or entities affiliated with us will be treated by those subsidiaries and affiliated entities in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

AthletechNews may use “cookies” to gather non-personally identifiable information.  Cookies are small text files transferred to your device that collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior information.  This information is used to track your use of the website and compile statistical reports on the website’s activity.  Visitors of the AthletechNews site can disable their browser from accepting cookies by clicking on the banner displayed on the website’s homepage immediately after initially visiting the site.

Opt-Out or Unsubscribe

Google Services

With your consent AthletechNews may use third party services, including but not limited to Google Analytics, to access your Google user data.  You will be notified prior to accessing your Google user data, and must authorize your account credentials before you are capable of accessing your Google user data.  The Google user data you use will not be stored or shared by us.  The Google user data accessed by the website is limited to user contacts, and are used solely to allow you to email those contacts directly from the website.

Security and Account Protection

We use reasonable technological and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.  We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.  However, no systems can be completely secure.  Therefore, while AthletechNews uses reasonable efforts to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its security, and your use of our website and services indicates your agreement to assume this risk.

California Residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives California residents enhanced rights with respect to their personal information that is collected by businesses.  The CCPA provides California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information.  The aforementioned rights include (i) right to opt out of having their information sold to third parties, (ii) right to request to know certain information and (iii) right to have their information deleted from the website upon their request.

  3. Categories of sources from which the personal information is collected;

Furthermore, the Califronia Online Privacy Policy Act (“COPPA”) requires operators of commercial web sites or online services that collect personal information on California residents through a web site to conspicuously post a privacy policy on the site and to comply with its policy.  The privacy policy must, among other things, identify the categories of personally identifiable information collected about site visitors and the categories of third parties with whom the operator may share the information.  The privacy policy must also provide information on the operator’s online tracking practices.  An operator is in violation for failure to post a policy within 30 days of being notified of noncompliance, or if the operator either knowingly and willfully or negligently and materially fails to comply with the provisions of its policy.

European Union Residents

For residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom and Switzerland, we advise that your Personal Information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which has data protection laws that are different than those in your country and may not be as protective.  The United States has not sought or received a finding of “adequacy” from the European Union under Article 45 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  Our legal basis for collecting and using your personal information is to do so with your consent; where we need the personal information for performance of a contract or requested service, including to provide you with our newsletter, or where the collection and use is in our or another’s legitimate interests and not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.  In some cases, we may also have a legal obligation to collect the personal information in question.  If we collected your personal information with your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time.

Changes and Updates to Privacy Policy

At AthletechNews, we strive to review our Privacy Policy as often as necessary and update it accordingly.  If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we use best efforts to provide our subscribers with notice of change to the policy.

Children

AthletechNews and the services it provides are not intended for children under the age of thirteen.  Accordingly, we will never knowingly collect the information of any child under the age of thirteen and if we learn that such an individual did provide his/her personal information, we will delete the information.
