Fitness Business The Yard Gym’s Partnership with Nike Training Exceeds All Expectations Athletech Studios August 17, 2026 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via Email Partnership withThe Yard Gym credit: The Yard Gym The boutique group fitness brand continues to grow its footprint and programming while maintaining its commitment to its members and franchisees The Yard Gym, the Australia-based strength and conditioning franchise, represents one of the fitness industry’s most compelling young brands. With steady expansion already underway and sought-after programming in place, it’s firmly established itself as a rising force in the sector. Most recently, The Yard partnered with Nike Training, the sportswear giant’s division dedicated to strength, conditioning and gym-based fitness, to become its first global gym partner. But even as The Yard continues to “just do it,” it insists there’s much more coming by the end of 2026. “The remainder of 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting periods in our history,” said Daniel Bova, co-founder and CEO of The Yard Gym. “What excites me most is that we’re not just growing our footprint; we’re growing our ecosystem. Members can expect more opportunities to connect, compete, learn and be inspired, while still experiencing the authentic community atmosphere that defines The Yard.” Daniel and Tiarne Bova (credit: The Yard Gym) Work with The Swoosh Many of the steps The Yard plans to take before the year’s end will happen in stride with Nike Training. In the coming months, the partnership promises to bring franchisees new opportunities through exclusive Nike experiences, community activations, educational opportunities, product moments and campaigns. These initiatives, alongside a shared ethos, originally prompted the partnership. “Nike was the right partner because our values align,” Bova said. “Both brands believe in the power of movement, community, performance and creating meaningful experiences that inspire people to reach their potential in life. Our shared mission is to elevate our clients’ lives both inside and outside the gym.” The partnership is something of a first for the athleticwear brand which until recently had little involvement in the fitness and wellness space. While Nike Studios operated a boutique fitness operation with FitLab in 2023, the company has since shuttered or suspended operations. It’s about unlocking progress,” said Chloe Speed, VP/GM, Nike Training. “By combining Nike’s expertise in performance innovation with TYG’s industry leading approach to community and programming, we’ll help more athletes push the limits of what’s possible and raise the bar of training globally.” That commitment was recently on display during The Yard’s exclusive VIP Experience at Nike’s global headquarters in Portland in late July. The experience brought together a select group of prospective operators for an immersive look inside the brand, offering behind-the-scenes access to its training philosophy, culture, leadership and global vision. It also served as an opportunity for The Yard’s leadership team to ensure every potential partner aligned with the values, standards and long-term direction of the brand. “We’re incredibly intentional about who joins The Yard,” Bova said. “Our priority has always been protecting the culture and maintaining the highest standard across everything we do. We’re building something special, and that means surrounding ourselves with people who genuinely align with our vision.” The Right Kind of Growth Outside of the Nike partnership, Bova also noted that The Yard will open new locations before the end of the year, spread out across different markets. The brand additionally plans to expand programming opportunities and launch various community-focused initiatives focused on tying together members locally and globally. These gatherings will build on those already established by The Yard, such as Payday, an initiative inviting members to complete team-based workouts before heading out together for coffee or breakfast, or Open Weeks, which encourages members to bring friends and family into the gym. “It’s incredible to see members bring friends, families and colleagues together, with many events growing far beyond what was originally expected,” Bova said. But while eager to add to its franchise network and support its preexisting branches, The Yard doesn’t want to overextend itself. Across all its initiatives, elevating the brand rather than diluting it is a paramount concern. credit: The Yard Gym “Our biggest priority is sustainable, controlled growth,” Bova said. “We’re incredibly excited about the opportunities ahead, but we’re equally committed to protecting what has made The Yard special from day one: our community, culture and member experience.” The Yard’s devotion to those values can be found in its coaching culture, which prioritizes genuine care for members. Its emphasis on performance and belonging also plays a role, which challenges members to improve while ensuring they feel supported by coaches and the broader community. The Yard’s made it a priority to frequently reassess its franchising methods and procedures and maintain selectivity when analyzing partnership opportunities as well. It also measures potential growth moves against specified models before conducting them, and rejects nearly half of its franchisee applicants. “Growth is important, but growth without culture doesn’t create long-term success,” Bova said. “Every new location must deliver the same sense of belonging that our members expect from The Yard.” Tags: Boutique Fitness Nike Training The Yard Gym
