On Global Running Day, the brand joins forces with Strava and NYRR, testing new ways to serve the running community
In celebration of Global Running Day on June 4, Smoothie King is launching several initiatives aimed at engaging the running community. The company has signed on as the Official Smoothie of the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon through a new partnership with the nonprofit New York Road Runners (NYRR), and will be teaming up with fitness app Strava to give away three entry bibs for the upcoming race.
With over 200,000 applicants each year and only a small percentage securing spots through the drawing, entry to the New York City Marathon remains highly competitive. Smoothie King and Strava’s “Smoothie King Challenge” offers runners a rare alternate path into the event, with details and participation available through the Strava platform.
In Texas, the brand is also piloting a unique retail concept designed for post-run convenience. The “Run-Thru” window, a limited-time experience debuting only on June 4 at the Richardson, TX location, will allow runners to jog up and order smoothies on foot, rather than by car. The one-day activation reflects an attempt to meet fitness-focused customers where they are, both literally and figuratively. For those outside of Texas, Smoothie King will offer a free 12-oz. Watermelon Hydration Smoothie at participating stores nationwide.
