Australian company Viva Leisure is expanding its fitness portfolio with Zoo Fit, a low-cost option that aims to fill the country’s gap of affordable gym memberships

Viva Leisure, one of Australia’s major fitness players, is making a play for budget-friendly fitness as it launches the low-cost gym brand, Zoo Fit.

The health and fitness company is pushing into Western Australia, opening Zoo Fit’s first locations in Wanneroo and Mandurah in late July, with additional sites to roll out nationally over the next 12 to 18 months.

“Western Australia is one of the strongest growth opportunities in the country for fitness, and we saw a clear gap in the market for a genuinely value-led offering that doesn’t compromise on experience,” said Viva Leisure Managing Director and CEO Harry Konstantinou.

The launch also builds upon Viva Leisure’s multibrand strategy spanning premium, mid-market and boutique fitness offerings throughout Australia, New Zealand and India.

Viva Leisure currently operates more than 510 locations globally and serves more than 650,000 members, with its portfolio including Club Lime, Plus Fitness, hiit republic, Club Pilates, GroundUp and Supp Society, alongside strategic investments in World Gym Australia and Boutique Fitness Studios.

“Zoo Fit delivers exceptional value, boasting world-class equipment, wellness and recovery offerings, and 24/7 access at a price point that makes fitness more accessible to more Australians,” Konstantinou added.

Konstantinou underscored Zoo Fit’s accessible value, with memberships starting from $8.88 per week for gym access and $14.88 per week for gym and wellness access.

“We already operate premium and mid-market brands successfully, but we identified an opportunity to create a dedicated low-cost, high-value proposition that reflects changing consumer expectations,” he said. “Consumers are increasingly value conscious, but they still expect quality, flexibility and convenience. Zoo Fit has been built specifically for that shift.”

Zoo Fit will also offer a “Fit Fam” membership starting at $24.80 per week for two adults and two teenagers (ages 13-17), with the ability to add up to two additional teenagers.

“Zoo Fit is part of our diversification strategy. By not limiting ourselves to one category or demographic, we’re de-risking growth and building a brand that drives long-term performance for our members, franchisees and shareholders,” Konstantinou said. “Zoo Fit becomes the missing piece in our portfolio strategy and allows us to serve a broader cross-section of the market.”

The company explained that Western Australia was selected as the launch market due to strong population growth, increasing health and wellness participation and Viva Leisure’s existing operational footprint in the region.

Founding members can take advantage of now-open Zoo Fit pre-sales ahead of the July launch, receiving eight weeks free and securing their membership price for life.
