The New York-based company is betting that lung health could become the next hot wellness category

Climatic has launched L Max, an inhalable lung health system designed to bring respiratory care into the daily wellness routine, an area that has historically been treated as reactive rather than preventative.

The New York-based company, which raised $10 million in seed funding earlier this year, is positioning lung health alongside categories like hydration and recovery, pointing to the more than 20,000 breaths people take each day and the constant exposure to environmental stressors such as dust, pollen and pollution.

“Lung health has historically been treated as reactive care, but it plays a critical role in how we perform, recover and feel every day,” said Climatic co-founder and CEO Eric Kau. “With L Max, we’re making lung health a simple daily habit, something you do consistently, like brushing your teeth.”

L Max delivers a blend of all-natural ingredients to the lungs through a sub-30-second inhalation process. The product is designed to act locally, supporting the body’s natural airway clearance process.

Climatic points to research conducted in partnership with Mount Sinai Medical Center, where a single use improved mucus clearance by more than 50 percent in an in vivo model, with effects lasting up to eight hours. The company says the findings have been replicated across multiple tests and are being prepared for peer-reviewed publication following more than three years of research.

The company has also tested L Max in athlete settings, including a five-week trial in which 98% of participants reported easier breathing during workouts. The company reports average time trial performance improved by 6%, while 80% of users saw improvements in heart rate variability within two weeks.

The launch comes as breathing and respiratory efficiency are gaining more attention across performance and recovery. According to the World Health Organization, 99% of the global population is exposed to air that exceeds recommended pollution guidelines.

“Over the past decade, we’ve watched wellness categories go from niche to non-negotiable almost overnight,” said Allie Melnick, co-founder and chief commercial officer at Climatic. “Hydration used to be an afterthought. Now nobody leaves the house without a water bottle. Lung health is at that same moment.”

L Max was developed with input from pulmonary experts and tested across more than 200 elite athletes, including Olympians and world champions. Athletes such as Tim O’Donnell were involved in evaluating its impact on breathing efficiency and training readiness.

“With L Max, I feel like I find my rhythm a little bit quicker,” O’Donnell said. “Normally, I’m deep into a run before my breathing feels right. With L Max, I feel confident, like I can get after it right now.”

L Max is third-party tested, WADA-compliant and available direct-to-consumer, priced at $55 per month via subscription or $95 for a one-time starter set, which includes the device, a one-month supply and a travel case.
