The social wellness operator is opening a 36,000-square-foot location in Philly’s Center City, its first location outside New York as it plots national expansion

Bathhouse is officially venturing beyond New York City.

The popular social wellness concept will open its first Philadelphia location on Sept. 25, marking Bathhouse’s first expansion outside its home market as it looks to take its sauna and contrast therapy model nationwide.

Located inside The Bellevue in Center City, Bathhouse Philadelphia will span roughly 36,000 square feet across multiple floors, including the historic building’s former Tiffany & Co. space.

The majority of the wellness experience will sit in a brick-walled basement featuring three indoor pools, an infrared sauna, dry sauna, banya and steam room.

In early 2027, Bathhouse plans to add a third-floor outdoor terrace featuring another pool and sauna, along with lounge space and a concessions area.

“Expanding to Philadelphia was an incredible opportunity for us,” Bathhouse co-founder Jason Goodman said. “We chose The Bellevue because it is central to the city’s cultural and commercial heart and because of its stunning beauty.”

Founded in 2019 with a location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Bathhouse has grown to three New York City locations, adding studios in Flatiron and on Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn.

The Philadelphia opening represents the first step outside that market as the company pursues a much larger national footprint.

Bathhouse raised $35 million in a funding round led by Imaginary Ventures earlier this year, with plans to eventually operate 10 locations nationwide. The company has also been linked to planned locations in Los Angeles, Chicago and Nashville.

The expansion comes as social sauna and contrast therapy concepts gain momentum across the U.S., with brands including Othership and Sauna House also raising capital and opening new locations.

Bathhouse’s Philadelphia location will offer the same recovery-focused approach as its New York outposts, centered around communal sauna, contrast therapy and bodywork.

The concept joins The Bellevue’s broader wellness and fitness ecosystem, which also includes the 100,000-square-foot Sporting Club.

Bathhouse Philadelphia will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
