Othership Raises $11M To Grow Social Sauna & Ice Bath Experience

The trendy experiential wellness brand is turning contrast therapy into a social ritual, with a second NYC location opening in Williamsburg this summer and plans for broader U.S. expansion
Othership, the Canadian-born wellness brand known for its immersive, community-focused sauna and ice bath experiences, has raised $11.3 million to fuel its U.S. expansion, building on its existing footprint, which includes two locations in Ontario and a studio in New York City’s Flatiron district.
The capital was raised through a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE), with regulatory filings showing participation from 57 investors across North America, Europe and the Caribbean. U.S.-based backers accounted for the lion’s share, contributing $7.1 million, according to The Logic, which first reported the news.
The publication also noted that Rocana Ventures co-founder Gurdeep Prewal, whose firm took part in the round, sees the raise as a stepping stone ahead of a planned Series B.
Othership co-founder and CEO Robbie Bent told the publication that the recent raise will be used to expand the brand’s presence in New York. Othership will open its second NYC location, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, this summer.
Prior to the recent round, Othership had raised more than $10 million in venture funding since its launch, with backers including early investors in Headspace, the founders of SoulCycle and Daybreaker, and singer Shawn Mendes.
The brand has crafted an experience that goes beyond recovery, offering a sensory-rich, community-driven approach to wellness that resonates with wellness enthusiasts and Gen Z consumers, particularly those embracing alcohol-free lifestyles who love a meaningful IRL experience.
At Othership, the wellness journey begins long before the first drop of sweat or icy plunge. In homage to its name, guided classes unfold in a futuristic, spaceship-inspired setting, where guests gather over tea or water and quiet conversation before being led through a thoughtfully themed experience that is part ritual, part social experiment and wholly immersive.

Each class carries a cohesive arc, with themes like “Awakening,” “Heart Opener” or “A–Z Emotions.” Sessions fall into one of three categories: Up, Down or All Around, targeting energy, relaxation or emotional connection.
Instructors set the tone early, addressing the group in a communal lounge before guiding them into the sauna, a wood-clad space that holds up to 70 people. There, the heat (175–185°F) and essential oils swirl through the air as instructors blend breathwork, soundscapes and visualization exercises into an orchestrated sensory experience. Some sessions include partner exercises.
The experience ends with a communal cold plunge, where guests dip (two or four at a time) into baths cooled to 32–40°F.
For those seeking a less structured approach, Othership offers “Free Flow,” a 75-minute self-guided journey through the sauna and cold baths, and “Quieter Free Flow,” with hushed tones and a calming playlist. Evening Social, a two-hour, sober-curious event, offers an alternative to nightlife, swapping cocktails for community, connection and contrast therapy.
