Altro Health’s software lets gyms, coaches and medspas sell clinician-prescribed peptides, GLP-1s and hormone therapy under their own brands

Altro Health, a platform that lets personal trainers, gyms and medspas offer their clients peptides, GLP-1s, hormone therapy and lab testing, has raised $7 million in seed funding as demand for at-home peptide and hormone injections hits new highs.

NFX led the round, which included participation from Founder Collective, an early Whoop backer, and Abby Miller Levy of Primetime Partners, a longevity-focused investor.

Altro, which bills itself as a “Shopify for wellness businesses,” handles the clinical side for wellness professionals, with a board-certified clinical team supervising each service. The products come from licensed 503A and 503B pharmacies and the wellness business keeps its own name on the offering and its relationships with clients. Businesses can start offering bloodwork, prescription drugs and peptides in as few as two days.

More than 500 businesses are already on the platform.

“Direct-to-consumer brands are fighting over the same customers, so we went after something bigger,” said Andrea Corleto, a Harvard MBA grad and Altro’s founder and CEO.

Altro’s pricing starts at $319 a month, billed quarterly, for a Starter plan that includes a co-branded storefront and patient portal, the full product catalog, remote and on-site lab testing and the freedom to set prices. A $599-a-month Pro tier puts the storefront on the business’s own domain and includes marketing tools, premium lab panels with mobile blood draws and priority support. Operators with multiple locations can receive custom pricing.

“We invested in Altro because we saw a massive new consumer category with no clear leader,” said James Currier, a general partner at NFX, whose portfolio includes DoorDash, Lyft, Patreon and Poshmark. “Demand for this isn’t going away. The question is who builds the trusted infrastructure to meet the demand safely, at scale. We believe that Altro, built by an advisory team of clinicians trained at Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins, and Mayo Clinic, is uniquely equipped to do just that.”

Altro plans to put the new money into product development, hiring and sales and marketing.

Altro arrives as the gym-as-clinic model gains steam and it isn’t alone in courting gyms. Massachusetts gym owner Andrew Boimila offers peptides to members through provider Asher Med, while bigger chains have struck their own deals. In February, UFC Gym announced a joint venture with NexGen MD Scientific to put clinics offering GLP-1s, hormone replacement therapy and peptides inside its studios, starting with two California locations and expanding across its network over two years. Life Time has offered that same lineup through its Miora clinics since late 2023 and Dallas-based Recess Fitness, a one-location gym, rolled out RecessRx with GLP-1s, hormone therapy and peptides.

Interest in peptides is there, and trust may be the bigger opening. A New Consumer report released this year found that a third of younger consumers said they would consider peptides on a healthcare or wellness professional’s recommendation.
