If you ever wondered whether you could put a price on productivity in a can, we may be closer to finding the answer.

Neutonic, a nootropic-based functional drinks and supplement brand, has raised $6 million at a $60 million valuation to support retail expansion in the U.S. and U.K., enter new markets such as Australia, invest in new hires and expand distribution channels including fitness spaces.

The funding builds on momentum from 2025, when Neutonic raised $3.7 million.

Grenade founder Alan Barratt participated in the new round alongside ex-pro rugby player Ollie Marchon, athlete and world record holder Ross Edgley, entrepreneur Dan Martell and Contrarian Thinking founder Codie Sanchez, as well as existing investors who increased their positions.

Neutonic’s mission maps neatly onto where consumers say they’re headed. A March Ernst & Young survey found 52% of U.S. consumers are willing to pay more for drinks that support their health goals. Among Gen Z — the demographic Neutonic is likely to capture with its colorful, eye-catching packaging — more than half drink energy beverages at least every two weeks.

Gym King founder Jay Parker has also signed on as special advisor to the beverage brand, which reports it’s on track to exceed $25 million in revenue this year.

Co-founded in 2023 by “Modern Wisdom” podcast host Chris Williamson and fitness entrepreneur James Smith, along with Luke Betts and Shan Hanif, Neutonic is sold in grocery stores and gym chains including Fitness First and Everlast.

Its beverages are formulated with nootropic and adaptogenic ingredients including Cognizin for cognitive support, rhodiola rosea and panax ginseng, a botanical extract tied to mental performance. The drinks also contain 120 mg of caffeine, 400 mg of L-theanine and B vitamins.

Other products from the Neutonic line include creatine sticks, brain capsules, focus mints and nootropic toothpicks with Cognizin, caffeine and B12.

This month, Neutonic will launch in 500 Sainsbury’s stores in the U.K. and expand beyond GNC, The Vitamin Shoppe and Central Market in the U.S. this summer.

“We have always felt there was space for a product that better reflects how people want to perform today,” Williamson said. “Retail appetite has been incredibly encouraging, and this funding allows us to accelerate from a strong base.”

Not even halfway through the year, and the functional beverage category has been busy on all fronts — land or sea, literally.

Beyond Meat, once known as an alternative protein for vegetarians, launched a protein drink line, Beyond Immerse, in January while Kim Kardashian joined energy brand Update as co-founder in February ahead of a 4,000-store Walmart rollout

Meanwhile, Aqua Theon closed a $13 million seed round for its seaweed-based functional drink OoMee. Not to be outdone, Leisure Hydration closed an oversubscribed Series A backed by Nutrabolt CEO Doss Cunningham and Bloom Nutrition CEO Greg LaVecchia.
