Myzone Names New Group CEO as Founder Dave Wright Steps Down
Wright will continue with Myzone in a strategic role as the company prepares for an upcoming “liquidity event”
Dave Wright, founder of Myzone, a wearable fitness tech company and social platform, has stepped down as Group CEO, with Myzone’s board appointing David Stalker as its new leader.
The transition is effective immediately. Wright cited life, work and family balance as his reasons for the strategic move.
Although Wright has stepped down as Group CEO, Myzone confirms the founder is committed to positioning Myzone for a “further liquidity event” and will take on a more strategic role, focusing on global initiatives, industry partnerships and product innovation.
“I’ve always loved meeting new people and networking within the industry,” Wright said. “As founder, I will continue to do this, beating the drum of a platform that genuinely changes lives. I’m excited to work with David and the team to continue to have a worldwide impact on positive exercise habits in the years ahead.”
Myzone received a sizable investment from BGF and OBE last year.
Stalker, who has served as CEO of Myzone’s EMEA unit since 2018 and is president of EuropeActive, will work with Wright, the executive team and investors to ensure Myzone continues delivering its innovative fitness tech solutions.
“Dave’s entrepreneurial passion in driving the growth of Myzone over the past decade and beyond has been phenomenal, and I really look forward to continuing working with him in his new role,” Stalker said of his predecessor.
“Moving forward, I’m excited to have the opportunity to scale the business and exercise my experience, supported by Dave and surrounded by an incredible team,” he continued. “Together, we will innovate and execute in bringing heart rate training, health and well-being to the next level of visibility and adoption.”
The company recently introduced Myzone Premium, bringing three new fitness experiences so gyms and club operators can find the ideal fitness solution for their members. The new platform allows facilities to host and broadcast classes while utilizing Myzone’s live heart-rate technology.
This past summer, Myzone appointed Kerry Williams, a former Nike brand leader, as its new chief marketing officer.
