ISSA Creates Program To Help Military Members Become Fitness Professionals
The fitness industry is often a welcoming field for military members, due in part to its geographical flexibility
The International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), an online fitness and wellness education provider, has launched a military program to educate and propel the fitness careers of military members and their families.
The program focuses on certification, training, funding assistance and job placement for members of the armed forces, leading to gainful employment in the blossoming fitness industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in fitness training are projected to grow 19% from 2021 to 2031, considerably faster than the average for all occupations.
“As a Veteran myself I understand the sacrifice that service members and their families make to defend our freedoms, and also how difficult it can be to transfer employment and make the transition to civilian life,” said Rob Fingling, ISSA’s military sales manager. “At ISSA we take a proactive approach to assist our military community, and it is our hope that through this program, we can help service men and women who are interested in promoting healthy living establish successful and rewarding careers in the fitness industry.”
The fitness industry can prove to be a welcoming field for military members and their families. Since military members and their families may move frequently, becoming a fitness professional provides individuals the freedom to take their work wherever they go (including virtually) and enables them to either work part-time or full-time.
ISSA’s new program connects military members and their families to a Military Transition Specialist to navigate the certification process. After completion of the program, ISSA provides job placement assistance.
“As ISSA continues to expand our offering and approach fitness education through the lens of diversity and inclusion, we are extremely proud to offer this prestigious group of men and women and their families the opportunity for gainful employment and the chance to help people live healthier lives,” said Andrew Wyant, ISSA CEO.
ISSA’s certification programs are available online to make its program accessible to deployed or overseas military members.
