U.S.-based Riser Fitness plans to open 40 Club Pilates studios across Australia over the next four years, in one of the country’s largest fitness franchise agreements to date

Club Pilates is set to significantly expand its presence in Australia through a new deal with U.S.-based franchise group Riser Fitness, which will open 40 studios across all major capital cities over the next four years.

Riser Fitness, led by president and COO Mike Gray—who has been credited with accelerating the brand’s growth—is an established Club Pilates franchise group with more than 90 studios worldwide. The group will now oversee the Australian expansion with plans to scale quickly.

Matt Gordin, founder of Boutique Fitness Studios, discovered the Xponential Fitness-backed Pilates brand while living in the U.S. from 2015 to 2020. He then went on to secure a master franchise deal with Xponential Fitness, giving him exclusive rights to introduce multiple Xponential brands to the region, including Club Pilates, Rumble Boxing, CycleBar and StretchLab.

Since then, Boutique Fitness Studios has opened 22 Club Pilates locations and sold 27 more across Australia and New Zealand. Notably, Viva Leisure, one of Australia’s largest fitness operators, made a strategic investment in the group last fall.

“We believe in this brand wholeheartedly and are excited to bring it to even more communities,” Gordin said. “When I discovered these brands in the U.S., I knew they would offer something truly unique for the Australian fitness landscape, and I am pleased that they have been well received.”
