Anytime Fitness has opened Australia’s first airport-based gym, located at T1 International Arrivals. Travelers and airport staff can now access the two-level, 300 square-meter space 24/7, without a membership. credit: Anytime Fitness The facility is equipped to accommodate a variety of workouts, with Life Fitness / Hammer Strength equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, two lifting platforms and a wide range of dumbbells. With on-site showers as well, people can freshen up before departing. Passengers looking to get in a light stretching or mobility session pre- or post-flight can also take advantage of the space, helping to mitigate or prevent stiffness and encourage blood flow during long travel days. The club is locally owned and operated, offering free fitness consultations and personalized plans from experienced coaches. credit: Anytime Fitness As part of the opening, Anytime has also launched “Fit to Fly” routines available in-club and on YouTube, with short sessions featuring six simple strength exercises, including goblet squats and Romanian deadlifts. The workouts are designed to boost circulation, support posture and prepare the body for long periods of sitting without getting too fatigued. Anytime couldn’t have picked a better time to open its in-airport facility, especially as a growing number of airlines are making serious investments in passenger wellness. With more and more travelers prioritizing fitness and health, the franchise will likely see a substantial number of people utilizing the airport club.
