Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Launches Cable System That’s Wheelchair Accessible

The fitness equipment giant says its new Universal Cable machine is the only dual-action pulley (DAP) certified to meet ASTM F3021-17 standards

A new piece of fitness equipment is entering the Life Fitness / Hammer Strength product line, built to serve gym-goers of all types.

The brand’s new Universal Cable is a dual-adjustable pulley system designed to boost accessibility and cater to a wider range of abilities. The machine boasts a compact design and built-in storage solution to help operators seamlessly integrate it into any facility.

The new innovation is certified to ASTM F3021-17 standards, meaning it meets qualifications to be universal for anyone with functional limitations or impairments. Life Fitness / Hammer Strength says it’s the only dual-action pulley system (DAP) on the market that meets those standards.

The Universal Cable is adjustable for advanced and adaptive training needs, with one-handed vertical and horizontal arm adjustments that can be set to a wide range of motion, making it fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Additionally, the breadth of arm adjustments allows users to strength train while following the body’s natural movement pattern.

The Universal Cable is also compatible with the Life Fitness Connect System for access to its library of guided exercise examples.

The product launch follows the supplier’s latest innovation move to conduct product testing and research in partnership with Chicago-based Harper’s College, where it opened a Performance Insights Lab.
