With the launch of TrainingTrax, the infrared fitness brand joins Vasa and New York Sports Club as first-movers in giving AI personal training tools to members

It was a foregone conclusion that fitness would see rapid AI adoption, but now, just four months into the year, we are beginning to see how it’s showing up in gyms and boutique fitness studios — and who is leading the way.

Hotworx is among the latest. The 24-hour infrared fitness studio franchise has launched TrainingTrax, its own AI-powered personal training platform.

Available exclusively to Sweat Elite members, the new addition features a personalized avatar tool so members can visualize future results, customized 90-day workout plans that integrate with Hotworx’s training method and an AI coach for guidance and motivation.

The franchise, which has 800 open studios including locations in Canada and Dubai and signed agreements in Mexico, plans to hit 1,000 open locations by the end of the year.

“As we continue to scale Hotworx, our focus is on building a smarter, more connected experience for both our members and franchisees,” Hotworx founder and CEO Stephen Smith said. “TrainingTrax represents exactly where we’re headed, leveraging technology to drive results, increase engagement and ensure that as our footprint grows, the value we deliver grows with it.”

Hotworx joins a growing list of fitness operators offering AI coaching tools to members.

Earlier this month, high-value, low-price fitness operator Vasa Fitness launched an AI-powered personal training app in partnership with Demotu, so members can remain engaged between sessions with trainer-prescribed workouts. New York Sports Club made a similar play with MYCO, an AI coaching platform built with Palta-backed Zing Coach that lets members chat with AI coaches, find personalized workout plans and nutrition guidance, track progress and more.

Both Vasa and NYSC were quick to note that such advancements aren’t meant to replace trainers, but to better support them and keep motivation from waning. Worth noting, too, that Vasa’s app first requires members to complete an in-person consultation.
