Booked by App, Built for Privacy: The Gym Pod Debuts in Hong Kong

Known for its “work out like no one’s watching” philosophy, The Gym Pod is redefining solo fitness—and streamlining franchising—with its bookable, 24/7 micro gyms
After launching more than 50 smart, private gym pods across Singapore (and one in Chicago) The Gym Pod—a minimalist fitness concept built for introverts—is expanding to Hong Kong SAR.
The idea is simple: The Gym Pod offers 24/7 unmanned “micro gyms” that users can book on demand through a mobile app. Each pod comes equipped with free weights, benches, resistance machines and more — designed for those seeking privacy, flexibility and a contract-free workout.
Two pods have just opened in Hong Kong, with sessions starting at $38 per half-hour. Users can split the cost by inviting a friend or two to join and have the option to book a session with a personal trainer. Trainers also have the ability to list their services directly on The Gym Pod app.
“We found that many people feel intimidated at traditional gyms, or they simply don’t have time for crowded peak hours,” said The Gym Pod Hong Kong co-founder Chris, who was identified only by his first name. “We built this for those people — to make fitness as convenient and comfortable as ordering food delivery.”
The company is actively scouting new locations across Hong Kong and is open to franchise partners, property owners, developers and mall operators interested in adding a Gym Pod to their space. According to the company, all that’s required is 25 square meters and at least $50,000 in liquid capital.
