24 Hour Fitness Reduces Staff Count
Former employees announced their departures on LinkedIn
Like many others in the fitness industry, 24 Hour Fitness has conducted a round of layoffs in light of the economy.
“Like many businesses 24 Hour Fitness has to adapt to the challenges of the current macroeconomic climate,” said Karl Sanft, CEO of 24 Hour Fitness, of the workforce reduction. “What cannot change is our mission to provide maximum value for our members. While difficult this decision allows us to best serve our members now and for the future.”
Sanft was appointed President and CEO of 24 Hour Fitness last summer.
While an exact number of impact positions hasn’t been released, now-former 24 Hour Fitness employees took to LinkedIn to announce that they have joined the growing #opentowork community.
Some of those affected by the recent 24 Hour Fitness layoffs appeared to hold roles such as Senior Manager or Corporate Communications, Member Relations, Senior Corporate Recruiter, and a District Manager.
The Colaboratory network added the fitness chain to its directory of brands that are interested in collaboration.
At the close of 2022, Gympass added 24 Hour Fitness as a fitness partner in its quest for national expansion. “We are thrilled to partner with Gympass to make wellness accessible to all,” remarked Sanft during the announcement last December.
Other fitness-related brands that have recently conducted layoffs include Gymshark, Tonal, Hydrow, Whoop Unite, and Mindbody.
