Pure Barre Sets the ‘Barre’ High With Summer Challenge

Pure Barre is kicking off its annual Pure “ACED” Challenge, a month-long initiative to encourage members to explore the brand’s four signature class formats and build workout consistency through July.

To complete the challenge, participants must attend at least 10 classes at participating studios by the end of the month, with the added goal of sampling each of Pure Barre’s core offerings: Align, Classic, Empower and Define. The Xponential Fitness-owned brand said 40,000 members took part in last year’s challenge.

Members can join the challenge and track their progress through the Pure Barre mobile app.

“Although summer can be a busy season, it is a great time to refocus on wellness,” Pure Barre vice president of training and technique Michelle Ditto said. “The Pure ACED Challenge is the perfect way to help members, both new and returning, stay motivated, build consistency and make meaningful progress toward their fitness goals in addition to the full summer calendar. Pure Barre’s four signature class formats are each designed to support specific fitness goals, offering a comprehensive and balanced workout routine.”

One of the standout formats from Pure Barre in recent years has been Define, a more strength-focused class that complements traditional Barre programming. The 50-minute class blends low-impact Barre techniques with functional strength exercises and heavier dumbbells, applying principles of progressive overload to help members build muscular strength and confidence in form.

The format has quickly gained traction. Define was the second most offered class across the brand in the past year, with class offerings up 130% year-over-year, according to Pure Barre. Utilization rates reached 80% in March 2024 (a record for the format at that time), and franchise owners have seen a 15% lift in same-store sales tied to the format’s success.
