MyFitnessPal highlights a key finding from its survey, which revealed that 81% of respondents who had unsuccessfully tried dieting attributed their failure to overly restrictive diets. The same applies to other goals, MyFitnessPal says, whether it’s tracking protein, losing pounds or cutting back on alcohol. “An all-or-nothing approach oftentimes sets you up for failure, and that’s mostly because it doesn’t take real life into account– there are going to be times when you opt for the side of fries instead of the side salad, and that’s okay,” MyFitnessPal scientific advisory council member Dr. Mike Varshavski said. “Instead of self-criticizing, or worse – giving up entirely – just track it, adjust and keep moving forward.
