The world’s foremost operator of mass participation sports, The IRONMAN Group, and chief fitness technology company Wahoo Fitness have partnered with one another to provide an elevated experience for endurance athletes with fitness connectivity

The IRONMAN Group and leading fitness technology company Wahoo Fitness have agreed to a multi-year enterprise-wide partnership which may seemingly take both endurance sports and fitness technology to an advanced level.

The business deal between both enterprises is considered the “first of its kind” for The IRONMAN Group. With this powerful partnership, Wahoo is now known as the Official Technical Partner for all brands under The IRONMAN Group portfolio (including IRONMAN®, Haute Route®, and Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series, among others).

One of the main components of this union will enable athletes to utilize all available fitness offerings through an interconnected system between IRONMAN and Wahoo.

For instance, consumers will have the ability to use Wahoo products with indoor virtual cycling app FulGaz.

FulGaz was acquired by The IRONMAN Group in 2021. At the time, The IRONMAN Group President and CEO Andrew Messick called the investment “a milestone” for the company with a vision to remain a key player in the connected fitness space.

“We’re excited to partner with Wahoo across our brands to give our athletes access to their class-leading connected training ecosystem,” said Matt Wikstrom, Chief Partnerships Officer for The IRONMAN Group. “Wahoo is the only brand helping endurance athletes train indoors and outdoors, which can help all of our global athletes prepare for any of our events, regardless of time constraints, limited daylight, or weather. We hope that this partnership, along with our connected fitness offerings, will help more athletes attain their best results in our races.”

In late 2021, Messick expressed his “fear of disappointing” as a primary motivating force to Athletech News. “It’s our mission at The IRONMAN Group to deliver great experiences for our athletes,” he added.

With The IRONMAN Group’s reputation as the largest operator of mass participation sports around the globe and Wahoo’s dedication to servicing endurance athletes with superior training equipment and resources, a new, exciting era in connected fitness for endurance sports is on the horizon.
