Influencer Katy Hearn Rebrands Fitness App, Eyes AI Coaching
The female-focused fitness and virtual coaching app Fit by Katy will now go by the name “Sesh” as it looks to expand
The female-focused fitness and virtual coaching app Fit by Katy, a concept launched by social media influencer Katy Hearn, has officially been rebranded to Sesh and is developing wholly owned AI functionality to expand its coaching capabilities and reach more women.
The app’s audience has grown significantly since its 2015 debut, first gaining notoriety for its 8-week fitness challenges before integrating individual virtual coaching and organically building a community that offers accountability and support.
“The community we built at Fit by Katy is so much bigger than just me now and so I knew it was time for a new name and brand that reflected that,” Hearn said. “Sesh was born out of the mantra we’ve preached for years: get one hour closer to your goals. Just get one (workout) sesh closer each and every day.”
Emphasizing strength training, macronutrient tracking and one-on-one communication, the Sesh app is celebrating its roots with an upcoming eight-week New Year challenge combining strength, cardio and core-based workouts starting Jan. 7, 2024. Participants can win weekly prizes by completing a workout and checking in, with the grand prize winner receiving $5,000. Weekly prizes are given out randomly, but the grand prize winner is selected based on their transformation.
Hearn has made a name for herself as a community builder and entrepreneur in the health and wellness space. In addition to Sesh, Hearn founded Alani Nu, a colorfully-branded product line of supplements, snacks and energy drinks, CBD brand Onyx + Rose, and athleisure line Stori.
The Sesh platform offers two monthly membership tiers: a $4.99/month basic plan, which includes access to an on-demand workout generator for a home or gym-based workout, access to Sesh’s macro calculator and the check-in feature and an $18.99/month premium plan that includes the basic plan’s offerings plus access to 50-plus fitness programs, weight and rep tracking and the Sesh private community.
Kate Stinson, head of growth and partnerships, noted that the Fit by Katy platform assisted over 450,000 users in reaching their fitness goals while creating an online fitness community for women.
Fit by Katy’s rebrand comes as another major player in the female #fitfluencer space is back on her throne. Last month, Kayla Itsines, renowned for her women-centered workout guides, meal-planning and fitness app, reacquired her uber-popular Sweat app from Utah-based iFit after selling the platform to the company in July 2021.
