John McEnroe Tennis Academy Unveils Eye-Tracking Fitness Wearable

FalconFrames is a neuro-visual wearable that coaches athletes on where to focus their eyes during training

The days of merely focusing on physical conditioning and psychological preparation in sports could be long gone.

Evolution Optiks Limited unveiled its partnership with the John McEnroe Tennis Academy to introduce a cutting-edge technology, FalconFrames, into the world of tennis training.

The collaboration integrates state-of-the-art light field technology to enhance athletes’ neuro-visual skills, revolutionizing the way tennis is played and coached.

FalconFrames, born from years of light field technology innovation, is a lightweight wearable device that features gaze-tracking and retina-tracking guide lights. It offers real-time analysis of eye movements and provides visual cues to athletes on where to focus their vision during training. The glasses also interface with a smartphone app so users can follow preset training routines, set goals, track progress, and receive guidance from coaches. It also integrates with existing health and wellness apps.

Recent research has underscored the importance of vision in sports performance. More than 80% of the input that athletes process during sports is visual. In tennis, where balls can reach speeds of around 100 mph, quickly processing information and cues can make or break a match. Each swing requires visual acuity, eye teaming, peripheral vision and visual reaction time.

FalconFrames is designed to tackle these challenges head-on.

“Great vision skills can make a monumental difference in an athlete’s performance, both on the field and off,” said Dr. Anne Reuter, a leading neuro-optometrist and JMTA’s official sports vision doctor. “FalconFrames opens up an array of possibilities for athletes of all levels, making it the ideal training tool.”

Details on the product’s launch are limited at this time, but its impact could be substantial. By adding a new visual dimension to training, FalconFrames could revolutionize the sport of tennis.
