CR Fitness recently received $350 million in growth capital as the franchise group plans to add another 100-plus Crunch clubs over the next five years

CR Fitness Holdings, the largest franchise group in the Crunch Fitness system, has surpassed 1 million members nationwide, marking a major milestone for both the operator and the broader Crunch brand.

The membership figure contributes to Crunch’s more than 3 million members globally, underscoring the continued momentum behind the high-value, low-price (HVLP) gym segment.

CR Fitness’ growth comes on the heels of a $350 million strategic investment from global investment firm Sixth Street, announced earlier this year, which is designed to fuel the franchisee’s next phase of expansion.

CR Fitness currently operates 93 Crunch Fitness locations across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, with additional expansion underway in Arizona and other markets. The company expects to operate roughly 110 locations by 2026, with plans to add more than 100 clubs over the next five years, supported by the new capital.

“Reaching one million members is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do,” said CR Fitness CEO Tony Scrimale. “It represents millions of workouts, goals achieved and communities strengthened. We’re proud to grow alongside our members and continue expanding the Crunch experience across the country.”

The expansion strategy is unfolding as the HVLP gym category continues to outperform the broader fitness industry. According to data from the Health & Fitness Association, HVLP gyms have posted record visitation levels, with traffic running well above pre-pandemic benchmarks, particularly among younger consumers.

CR Fitness locations are designed around Crunch’s high-value proposition, offering premium strength and cardio equipment, group fitness studios, cycling studios, HydroMassage beds, saunas and HIITZone training areas. Members also have access to certified personal trainers and a wide range of group fitness classes, including formats such as Zumba, yoga-based programming and TRX-based training.

The milestone comes as Crunch Fitness continues to scale globally, now operating more than 500 gyms across the U.S. and in international markets including Australia, Canada, Spain and India, among others.
