The Edge Fitness Clubs Is Latest Big-Box Gym To Add Boutique Classes

As boutique fitness continues to take off, many big-box operators are looking to capitalize with offerings of their own.

The Edge Fitness Clubs, a high-value, low-price (HVLP) operator with 43 locations, has begun a multi-state amenity expansion plan, beginning with a new infrared yoga studio in its Fairfield, Connecticut location. The brand is aiming to provide a gym experience with group fitness and boutique-style class offerings all under one roof.

Other new amenities include:

  • Edge Core: Small-group Pilates reformer sessions.
  • Edge Lift: A semi-private strength-training class.
  • Finish Recovery: A dedicated space for stretching, percussion therapy and recovery tools.
  • Edge StrongR: A high-intensity, coach-led class experience built around community and measurable progress.

“At The Edge, we’ve always believed that premium fitness experiences shouldn’t come with a premium price tag,” said The Edge president and founder Vinny Sansone. “Our new amenities, starting with infrared yoga, deliver boutique-quality programs within the full-service fitness environment our members know and love.”

But The Edge seems to be following a trend among fitness operators to invest big in competing with pricier, popular boutique studios by shifting clubs into wellness hubs rather than solely gyms.

Fitness International, the parent company of LA Fitness, launched Club Studio, which offers six boutique class modalities under one roof in 2023 — and earlier this month, unveiled its ambitious expansion plans for the brand.

Other HVLP brands are getting in on the movement, too, with Vasa Fitness incorporating new offerings such as a boutique-style strength class.

The Fairfield location will be the first Edge club to debut the upgrades starting November 6, with additional amenity launches coming to its 43 locations across the Northeast and Midwest through early 2026.
