Signal Rock Capital Invests in Florida-Based Wellness Retreat

The private investment firm is entering fitness and wellness with a bet on the Fort Lauderdale-based Thermae Retreat

Signal Rock Capital, a south Florida-based private investment firm, has invested in Thermae Retreat, a subscription-based holistic wellness retreat.

The Fort Lauderdale-based retreat is known for its Finnish-inspired amenities and treatments, offering sauna, cold plunge, red light therapy, meditation, art and other community-oriented experiences.

Founded in 2013 by Kelly Doyle, the retreat is the result of Doyle’s own experience at a month-long retreat in Holland. The trip left Doyle drawn to the deep healing she found there in the traditional Finnish-style saunas and pools.

The firm didn’t publicize further details of the deal, but its managing partner, Sam Hafermann, expressed excitement about the partnership after having experienced Thermae Retreat firsthand.

“Having first been a customer and now an investor, I can say Thermae is more than a wellness center — it’s a sanctuary built on the values of connection, healing, and presence,” Hafermann said. “We are honored to partner with Kelly and the team to preserve the essence of what makes Thermae unique while unlocking new opportunities for growth and impact. We see Thermae as the cornerstone of a broader multi-location, purpose-driven wellness platform.”

Signal Rock Capital plans to expand its investment to enhance Thermae’s physical spaces and service offerings,  aiming to create a replicable model for additional locations throughout the U.S.

“This partnership with Signal Rock allows us to stay true to our vision while gaining the resources and support needed to grow,” said Doyle. “I’m excited to see Thermae expand its reach, touching more lives while staying grounded in the philosophy and practices that our community values.”

In addition to the saunas, pools and plunges, Thermae offers a host of experiences from sound bathing and several types of massage therapy to weekly guided discussion circles for men, women and children centered around nervous system support tools, meditation and advanced self-healing practices.
