The infrared fitness franchise has added 100 locations since hitting 800 late last year and now serves more than 400,000 members globally

Hotworx is closing in on 1,000 studios as the infrared fitness franchise continues its rapid expansion in the U.S. and abroad.

The 24-hour, infrared sauna workout brand has surpassed 900 open locations worldwide, less than a year after reaching the 800-studio mark in December 2025. Hotworx now serves more than 400,000 members and expects to reach 1,000 open studios by spring 2027.

The milestone comes roughly nine years after Hotworx opened its first studio in Oxford, Mississippi, in 2017.

“Crossing 900 studios and 408,693 members in the same year tells us the model is working at scale,” Hotworx founder and CEO Stephen Smith said. “Reaching 1,000 is our next milestone, but the real goal is continuing to make the experience better as we grow.”

Hotworx combines virtually instructed workouts with infrared saunas, offering 30-minute isometric sessions and 15-minute HIIT workouts. Studios operate around the clock and also feature an FX Zone for functional and resistance training.

The company says much of its franchise growth has come from within its membership base, with a majority of franchisees starting as Hotworx members before becoming owners.

Hotworx has also continued to fill out its geographic footprint.

The franchise entered Alaska for the first time this year through a four-studio development agreement, with its first location in Wasilla opening in August. Internationally, Hotworx currently operates in the U.S., Canada, Ireland and Dubai, with studios in development in Mexico and Kenya.

The expansion builds on a period of steady franchise demand. When Hotworx reached 800 studios late last year, the brand was already ramping up its international ambitions, including a master franchise agreement for Mexico.

With 900 locations now open, Hotworx says the next major benchmark is within sight: reaching 1,000 studios roughly a decade after launching its first location.
