Beyond Raceday: How Concept2 Powers the HYROX Athlete Year-Round
Partnership
Sponsored By Concept2
Through its inclusive equipment design, digital platforms, and virtual events, Concept2 keeps HYROX athletes connected and motivated.
A HYROX race doesn’t begin when the starting bell rings — nor does it end at the finish line. Those moments simply mark the payoff for months of deliberate, intentional training, where real progress is forged, personal records fall and elite performers are made.
Along that demanding journey, Concept2 equipment stands as a trusted partner for every HYROX athlete. Since partnering with the global fitness competition brand in 2017, the high-performance equipment manufacturer has helped drive both the competitive and collective spirit of the sport.
“We’re the trusted solution for fitness competitions,” said Jameson Halnon, Concept2’s Director of PR and Social Media. “Top HYROX athletes are the kings and queens of cardio — and we just happen to have the royal fleet of training tools for them.”

As HYROX closes in on more than one hundred races this season, the partnership continues to evolve, leveraging Concept2’s innovative range of products and programs to support racers, strengthen community and empower coaches worldwide.
Inclusive by Design, Competitive by Choice
Concept2’s equipment is the ideal partner for HYROX and the go-to training tool for its athletes, earning high marks for both performance and approachability. The global company’s lineup includes the RowErg, SkiErg, BikeErg and the new StrengthErg, all built around an air-resistance flywheel that allows users to control workout intensity with their own effort.
This balance of precision and inclusivity aligns perfectly with HYROX’s mission. Known as “The Fitness Competition for Every Body,” HYROX delivers a competitive yet accessible environment that challenges participants of all abilities to push their limits and discover their potential.
Concept2’s thoughtful equipment design reinforces this philosophy. The RowErg, for example, separates into two pieces to accommodate wheelchair athletes during competition. A shorter monorail option also helps these athletes reach the handles with greater ease. Similarly, the SkiErg features low-mounted handle hooks and an optional, Wide Floor Stand to fit most standard wheelchairs. This ensures that performance remains possible for everyone, regardless of ability.

“We’re very proud of our Ergs for being accessible and approachable,” said Halnon. “The beauty of the RowErg is that a six-year-old can use the same product as a very tall individual, with the only adjustment being the foot stretchers. Likewise, the SkiErg can be used comfortably by the tallest or the shortest of users.”
Building Bridges Across Fitness Communities
As HYROX continues to grow, its training culture is expanding right alongside it, bringing together diverse fitness communities from around the world. The event has become a powerful bridge linking on-water rowing programs, functional fitness gyms, health clubs and online training groups. Concept2 stands at the center of this connection, providing the tools and support that unite these spaces under a shared pursuit of performance.
“We see HYROX evolving, with functional fitness gyms adding HYROX programming options. There are also new, dedicated HYROX Performance Centers featuring our RowErgs, SkiErgs and BikeErgs,” said Halnon. “More and more high-end commercial gyms are leaning into HYROX as well, so our presence is ever expanding.”

That presence extends beyond the gym floor as well. This past summer, members of the Green Racing Project — a program that develops elite skiers, rowers and other endurance athletes — competed in their first HYROX event, supported by Concept2’s equipment and sponsorship.
“When we step onto the floor at a HYROX race, we’re thrilled to see representation from so many of the communities and training spaces we’re connected to,” Halnon added. “HYROX has created common ground for athletes from a wide range of fitness backgrounds.”
Connected by Design: Building a Global Training Network
That sense of common ground extends beyond the race floor and into the digital space. Through ErgData, Concept2’s free training app, athletes around the world can connect, compete and track their progress from anywhere. The app links directly to Concept2’s Performance Monitor 5 (PM5) and allows users to join the Real Time Loop, a virtual course that’s always open whether you’re training solo or rowing alongside others online.
ErgData also enables users to build custom workouts, save favorites, participate in the Workout of the Day, choose from different display views and share progress within the Concept2 community.
“Coaches can create a workout for 50 athletes, send it to them via text and with just a tap on their phone, the PM5 console will automatically program that workout,” explained Halnon.

Concept2’s online challenges further enhance global engagement throughout the year. Highlights include the SkiErg World Sprints, a virtual 1,000-meter race held November 6-9, and the Holiday Challenge, where participants aim to complete 100,000 or 200,000 meters across Concept2’s lineup of cardio Ergs.
“When we look at our challenges, we see natural opportunities to create meaningful at-home engagement for HYROX participants,” Halnon said.
By combining digital tools, global events and at-home training opportunities, Concept2 extends the HYROX experience far beyond the competition floor, building a connected and motivated community that’s always moving forward.
Only the Beginning
As HYROX continues to gain traction worldwide, Concept2 is poised to scale right alongside the sport’s explosive growth. What began as a shared vision to make high-performance fitness more accessible has evolved into a global movement that bridges competition, community and connection through every pull, push and stroke.
“We see a lot of athletes in HYROX who are approaching the event as their next big fitness challenge,” said Halnon. “We’ve developed a community we care about deeply, one that’s proud to support Concept2, and we see HYROX as an important extension of that. We’re excited about the future of HYROX and our continued role in supporting the sport’s growth.”
For Concept2, the partnership represents more than brand alignment, but a shared commitment to progress. Both organizations are driven by the same purpose: helping athletes of all backgrounds train with intention, perform with confidence and stay connected long after race day ends.
