Easy Mile Fitness, a top Planet Fitness franchisee, is doubling down on its Pacific Northwest presence, adding new gyms and updating current facilities in Oregon

Planet Fitness is getting a major boost in the Pacific Northwest, thanks to one of its franchisees, Easy Mile Fitness.

The company is pouring $30 million into expanding its portfolio across Oregon, adding six new locations and upgrading four existing facilities spread amongst Bend, Eugene, Medford, Portland and Yakima.

“We are thrilled to grow our footprint while continuing to invest in our existing locations and enhance the member experience throughout Oregon,” said Easy Mile Fitness chief operating officer Philip Amato. “Our investment in opening new clubs will give even more people easier access to our high-value fitness model, as we add clubs throughout Eugene, Bend and in the coming weeks — Portland!”

The announcement follows the opening of a brand-new Easy Mile-owned club in Eugene last week, as the company looks to open another location at the former Nike Community Store in Portland in the coming weeks.

The new locations will bring the franchisee’s footprint to 30 clubs throughout Oregon — making it the largest Planet Fitness operator in the state.

“We are not just building and opening new locations, we will also be upgrading four of our current Oregon clubs,” Amato said. “The investment of new equipment in our existing clubs will help answer the demand for the different types of gym equipment our members want, improving the overall experience for current members.”

The investment arises as Planet Fitness is looking to turn around some recent struggles, as its Q1 earnings revealed worse-than-expected membership sign-ups during the New Year’s period. Last week, the low-price gym giant teamed up with activewear brand Gymshark to drive sign-ups to its annual High School Summer Pass program.
