Inspired by pace-setting in competitive running, Ergatta’s new Rowbot feature brings personalized, virtual competition to its rowing workouts

Ergatta is adding a virtual rival to its connected rowing platform.

The game-based home fitness company has introduced Rowbot, a customizable digital competitor designed to enhance its Ergatta Race workouts, offering a new motivation tool for members across all fitness levels.

Ergatta’s new feature draws from the concept of pace-setting in competitive running, where a lead runner helps others maintain a target speed. In the rowing context, Rowbot serves a similar function, offering users a virtual benchmark to match or beat. While it’s designed to challenge competitive users aiming for personal bests, it also supports users in steady pacing during endurance rows as well as warm-ups and cooldowns focused on injury prevention and recovery.

“I personally love Rowbot,” Ergatta co-founder and CEO Tom Aulet said. “A visual training tool to help me keep up with my goals during a long workout? A fun way to enhance one of my favorite Ergatta games? A new robot friend? Yes, yes, and yes! I’m thrilled to bring Rowbot to the Ergatta community.”

Rowbot is available across Ergatta’s product lineup, including the Ergatta Rower ($2,499), the Ergatta Lite ($1,799), and tablet-based systems designed to work with analog machines such as WaterRower and Concept2 through upgrade kits.
