The upcoming locations, along with a previously confirmed opening in Manhattan’s Hudson Square neighborhood, will give the fast-growing Chelsea Piers Fitness eight luxury gyms in the tri-state area

Chelsea Piers Fitness will be expanding into New Jersey and Queens, with plans underway to open luxury gyms in both Jersey City and Long Island City, the operator confirmed to Athletech News.

The Jersey City location will feature 60,000 square feet and be located inside the Arts & Powerhouse Building, a mixed-use center that currently counts Rumble Boxing and Hudson Golf as tenants. Online publication The Hoboken Girl first reported news of the upcoming Jersey City club launch.

Chelsea Piers Fitness will also be opening a 72,000-square-foot gym inside a high-rise condo tower currently under construction in Long Island City’s Court Square area. The tower is set to be finished by the spring of 2028, according to the project’s developers.

While Chelsea Piers Fitness can’t share additional details about the Jersey City and Long Island City clubs at this time, both locations are expected to feature the same set of luxury fitness and wellness amenities found at the brand’s five locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Stamford, Connecticut.

The gym-operating arm of famous sports and fitness brand Chelsea Piers, Chelsea Piers Fitness opened its most recent location in Flatiron in 2024. The 60,000-square-foot club features floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows, a large members’ lounge and co-working area, top-of-the-line fitness equipment, group exercise rooms and recovery amenities like infrared saunas and cold plunges.

“People are craving engaging, in-person experiences more than ever – especially as we spend more of our collective time working and collaborating with one another remotely,” Chelsea Piers Fitness chief operating officer Sam Bernstein said of the Flatiron club. “As a direct result, Chelsea Piers Fitness has become a place where you not only go for a best-in-class workout but also, and perhaps more importantly, a place where you can relax, build relationships and escape the fast-paced intensity of New York City.”

The brand is also planning to open a new club in Manhattan’s Hudson Square neighborhood, according to its website.

Taken together, the new openings will give Chelsea Piers Fitness eight clubs across the tri-state area. Looking ahead, the brand is actively pursuing additional expansion opportunities, its executives have shared with ATN.
