Wellness tourism is on the rise, and NBA players are getting in on the action.

Canyon Ranch, a chain of upscale wellness resorts, has partnered with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) to create athlete-inspired health and fitness experiences for its guests.

Available to book at Canyon Ranch’s Tucson, Arizona, and Lenox, Massachusetts, locations, the NBPA Peak Performance Program offers a four-day curated experience featuring strength and conditioning, recovery treatments, mindfulness practices and nutrition optimization.

Services on offer include a musculoskeletal and joint assessment, exercise prescription, Dexa body and bone density scan, spirituality and performance training, personalized nutrition coaching, and deep-tissue massage.

The idea behind the program, according to the NBPA and Canyon Ranch, is to give guests a taste of what it’s like to live and train like an NBA player, including routines for physical performance, mental health and holistic wellness.

Mason Plumlee, a center for the Phoenix Suns and the current NBPA secretary-treasurer, collaborated with former NBA player Cedric Ceballos to create the program. Plumlee and Ceballos were on-site at Canyon Ranch to select the best classes, services and experiences for the program.

“Professional athletes are meticulous about their training, wellness and recovery practices to perform at the highest level,” Plumlee said. “I had an opportunity to visit Canyon Ranch, and this curated experience is a unique platform reflective of elite athletic training to optimize mental, physical and spiritual health.”

Guests who book the NBPA program will also have access to Canyon Ranch’s normal suite of wellness services, including 35 daily classes, lectures and demos, along with specialty classes like Tai Chi, aerial yoga and meditation.

Founded in 1979, Canyon Ranch has grown into one of the world’s premier wellness resort destinations, operating four locations in Arizona, California and Nevada. At its resorts, the company offers everything from group fitness classes to spa services to hiking and rock climbing experiences.

Last year, the company received a $150 million investment to expand in Texas and eventually across North America as consumers increasingly seek exclusive wellness experiences. Canyon Ranch’s first Texas location is expected to open soon in Austin.

“For more than 45 years, Canyon Ranch has been the innovator and a leader in the health and wellness industry. We are excited to partner with the NBPA to study, craft, and share the latest innovations in training, performance, and wellness with our guests,” said Mark Rivers, CEO of Canyon Ranch. “Canyon Ranch is proud to have the world’s finest professional athletes join our team of experts to curate these meaningful once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that help guests attempt to become not only the highest performing versions of themselves, but also the most personally fulfilled and healthiest versions.”
