Aldi’s Pilates Reformer That Caused a Frenzy in Australia Lands in the UK for £150

Pilates has gone from elite studios to supermarket aisles, a clear sign of its broad and growing appeal

In the latest sign that Pilates has fully entered the mainstream, Aldi in the United Kingdom is rolling out its own budget-friendly Reformer Pilates machine for under £150 ($199) on May 25.

The grocer caused a stir last year when it launched the machine in Australia as part of its popular Special Buys range, where it quickly sold out.

The reformer, £149.99, is equipped with five resistance bands, adjustable height settings, transport wheels and a foldable design for easy storage. Aldi is also offering a range of Pilates accessories, including a Pilates pad, a three-piece Pilates ball set, a Pilates ring and a rotation ring, each priced at just £5.99. Shoppers will also find an adjustable step deck for £12.99 and the return of the grocer’s Smart Fitness Tracker, available for £11.99.

Pilates’ mass appeal aligns with industry forecasts and bodes well for the Pilates equipment market, which is expected to grow by $146.3 million between 2024 and 2028, according to Technavio.

While Aldi is helping Pilates fans outfit their home gyms with a budget-conscious option, others are addressing the high-ticket nature of Pilates equipment from a different angle. Your Reformer lets users rent at-home reformers for as long as they need, with services billed weekly. The company also offers full-priced reformers for purchase and provides an app with on-demand Pilates workouts.  Last month, Your Reformer opened a showroom in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, giving prospective customers a chance to experience its signature Reformers in person before considering a rental or committing to a full purchase.
