The fitness software solutions provider has introduced a retrofit sensor that turns any stack weight machine into a connected training experience

Virtuagym has launched its latest solution, Virtuagym Connect, a retrofit sensor that attaches to existing stack weight machines to automatically track repetitions, sets and weights and gamifies the training experience.

Unveiled at the Health & Fitness Association (HFA) Conference in Amsterdam, Virtuagym Connect will roll out first in the Benelux region and Germany this month, with a wider European and international launch slated for early 2026.

“With Virtuagym Connect, we are making strength training smarter, more fun and more accessible to a wider audience,” Virtuagym co-founder and CEO Hugo Braam said. “Our goal is to help clubs deliver engaging, results-driven training at a fraction of the cost of expensive smart machines. This innovation empowers members to stay motivated, while giving clubs the tools they need to provide an amazing training experience, without the need to switch to electric resistance or large investments.”

The new offering integrates with the Virtuagym platform and provides real-time feedback that turns progress into motivation. While it helps give beginners a way to build much-needed confidence, experienced members benefit from gaining measurable data and variety to keep training engaging.

The selling point for club operators, however, is that Virtuagym Connect integrates with existing equipment, eliminating the need for costly investments and reducing manual tracking for trainers.

“Club operators often do not want to lock themselves down in closed software ecosystems that certain providers are building, where there is limited choice on who to integrate and share data with,” Braam said. “Our vision has always been to serve the wishes and interests of our customers first, by creating a true open platform that plays nice with everyone. Virtuagym Connect fits this vision as it lets operators stay fully independent when negotiating new equipment purchases, which is usually one of their biggest investments.”

Connect also links with Virtuagym’s Max AI Coach, a newly-launched tool that generates personalized workouts, nutrition app and body composition kiosk. Later this year, members will earn Fitpoints and compete on leaderboards, expanding the gamification of strength training.
