Tonal Launches Certified Refurbished Program

The new offering is designed to make the brand’s smart strength training system more accessible

Tonal has announced the launch of its Tonal 1 Certified Refurbished Program, allowing customers to access the brand’s first-generation connected strength training system at a lower price point.

As part of an end-of-summer promotion, the refurbished units are available for $400 off while supplies last.

The Tonal 1 system condenses the functionality of a gym into a wall-mounted device, pairing digital weight with artificial intelligence to deliver strength training at home. Tonal adapts to each user’s goals and progress, automatically adjusting weight, setting weekly objectives and offering real-time coaching.

With a 12-month membership ($59.95 per month), refurbished Tonal 1 users can access thousands of workouts, ranging from strength and conditioning to yoga. The membership also includes predictive weight, real-time feedback and exclusive training modes such as Chains, Smart Flex and Spotter. Progress tracking, goal setting and multi-user access are also part of the package. Each Certified Refurbished Tonal is delivered with white-glove installation.

The launch of the refurbished program comes as Tonal continues to expand its technology and consumer touchpoints. The brand recently introduced Daily Lift, an artificial intelligence (AI) feature that generates personalized, adaptive workouts based on a member’s performance, fatigue and goals. Daily Lift leverages Tonal’s deep training dataset and user history to offer workouts that evolve daily.

Tonal has also been experimenting with in-person engagement. Earlier this year, the company debuted its NYC Training Lab, a pop-up experience where users could trial the new Tonal 2 machine, take classes and interact with coaches. According to Tonal, during the ATN Innovation Summit, over 60% of attendees were non-members and class slots were booked at more than 200% capacity.
