Wellness Therabody Launches Thermoregulation Device Ahead of World Cup Elizabeth Ostertag June 10, 2026 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via Email credit: Therabody Subscribe Now Log in The wellness tech brand’s CryoTherm Palm device, designed to help athletes manage heat during competition, has been already been used by England’s national soccer team Therabody is entering the thermoregulation category with the launch of CryoTherm Palm, its first performance device built around palm cooling as a way to help athletes manage heat during high-intensity training and competition. The wellness tech company has been piloting the technology with soccer players, and it’s set to be used on the sidelines by some teams at this summer’s World Cup in North America, where high temperatures are expected to be an ongoing issue. The product marks a notable expansion for the company, best known recovery-focused devices. Rather than targeting post-workout recovery alone, CryoTherm Palm is designed to be used during training sessions, games and natural rest windows, including between sets, during halftime, timeouts, water breaks or interval efforts. credit: Therabody As heat management becomes a growing focus across elite sports, the launch aims to reduce physical stress during summer athletic events. Therabody says CryoTherm Palm has already been used by England’s national football team during training camps, pre-tournament friendlies and sideline recovery protocols in the build-up to the World Cup. CryoTherm Palm uses dual cooling surfaces for both palms and Therabody’s proprietary Cryothermal technology to maintain calibrated temperatures without ice, water or setup. The device offers three cold settings, 46.4°F, 53.6°F and 60.8°F, and can also deliver localized cold therapy, localized heat therapy and contrast therapy, positioning it as both an in-session performance tool and a post-session recovery device. “CryoTherm Palm extends that mission into the training session itself — helping athletes delay fatigue, sustain intensity, and get more out of every effort,” Therabody chief science officer Tim Roberts said. “Whether it’s a soccer player staying dangerous in the 85th minute or a strength athlete pushing through a final set, this product was designed and proven to make a measurable difference.” credit: Therabody Therabody is leaning heavily on research to support the launch. The company says CryoTherm Palm is the only palm-cooling device validated through two controlled studies ahead of launch, including one with Division I athletes at the University of Southern California and another with elite male soccer players at IMG Academy in collaboration with the University of Florida. In the USC study, which involved 21 Division I collegiate athletes performing four sets of overhead presses to failure at 85% of one-rep max, Therabody said the device led to 28% more total work volume, 58% more reps in the final set and a 7% increase in post-session grip strength compared with control conditions. In the IMG Academy study, which involved 22 elite male soccer players ages 17 to 19 performing repeated sprint efforts, athletes using CryoTherm Palm reported feeling 60% cooler. Therabody also reported a 2.45% increase in top sprint speed and a 4.7% improvement in sprint velocity maintained across repeated all-out efforts compared with control conditions. CryoTherm Palm also reflects a broader shift in the recovery tech market. As athletes and teams look beyond massage guns and compression boots, brands are expanding into areas such as sleep, heat, hydration, nervous system regulation and real-time performance support. CryoTherm Palm is available now in the U.S. for $399.99 online. Therabody said the device will launch in Europe, U.K., Australia and Canada this fall.
