The Vitamin Shoppe’s New GLP-1 Line Signals Shift in Supplements

As weight loss medications continue to emerge as a promising treatment for metabolic dysfunction, a new category of adjacent products is emerging: GLP-1 support supplements, which are marketed to complement the blockbuster drugs by filling in important nutritional gaps and addressing other unique needs of weight loss medication users.
What’s more, there’s a strong case that GLP-1 users have wallet share to invest in products like these—especially given research showing that households with at least one weight loss medication user cut grocery spending by roughly 6% within six months of starting the medication.
The Vitamin Shoppe is one of the latest brands to enter the space with several dietary supplements for GLP-1 users. Here’s what fitness professionals should know, given the retailer’s position as a major player in the supplement space.
The newly launched line—GLP-1 Support from Whole Health Rx by The Vitamin Shoppe—follows what The Vitamin Shoppe president Muriel Gonzalez says is a surge in GLP-1 medication use for weight loss and is a response to the gap in the market for tailored nutrition support.
“GLP-1 medications can significantly impact appetite, digestion and nutrient absorption, making supplementation essential,” Gonzalez added. “Building on the expertise of The Vitamin Shoppe’s Whole Health Rx telehealth platform, we developed these new GLP-1 Support products as an easy-to-understand, one-stop solution for consumers seeking a balanced and holistic approach to weight loss and nutrient supplementation.”
The Vitamin Shoppe had expanded into clinical services with the launch of Whole Health Rx last spring, offering clinician-guided access to prescription GLP-1 medications—including compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide—as well as testosterone replacement therapy.
Leading the new line-up is GLP-1 Support Nutrient Powder, a meal replacement formula featuring 25 grams of protein, 24 essential vitamins and minerals, digestive enzymes, fiber and a serving of TruServ greens. Also included in the range is GLP-1 Support Protein, which contains 30 grams of whey protein plus collagen, GLP-1 Support Fiber for digestion, GLP-1 Support Synbiotic for gut health and GLP-1 Support Multivitamins, available in men’s and women’s formulas.
Tabitha Daley, a registered dietitian nutritionist with The Vitamin Shoppe who helped formulate the new products, noted that GLP-1 users face specific nutritional challenges, and finding products tailored to these needs can be challenging.
“Our goal was to create an accessible, science-backed system that fills essential nutrient gaps while also helping individuals feel their best throughout their weight-loss journey by addressing nutrition-related issues that are associated with GLP-1 drugs,” Daley said.
