The Australia-founded fitness franchise says the U.S. has become its top-performing market as it plans to enter NYC, Boston and more top American cities

Australia-born boutique fitness franchise Strong Pilates is accelerating its U.S. expansion, with plans to nearly quintuple its domestic footprint by the end of the year while laying the groundwork for additional growth in 2027.

The concept, which combines Pilates, strength training and cardio, announced it will open new studios across Boston, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Maryland, New York City and the Philadelphia area throughout the remainder of 2026, alongside newly signed franchise agreements that will bring the brand to Boise, Miami, Portland and Charleston in early 2027.

The latest wave of openings is expected to bring Strong Pilates to 25 U.S. studios by the end of the year, building on the brand’s rapid global expansion.

Founded in Australia in 2019, Strong Pilates now operates more than 120 studios across 15 countries, serves more than 50,000 members and generated $75 million in network revenue over the past 12 month, according to the brand.

Strong Pilates says the U.S. has quickly become its strongest-performing region.

“On a global scale, the U.S. is our highest-performing market,” co-founder Michael Ramsey told Athletech News. “Strong Pilates studios in the U.S. average over 250 members, with one in two studios achieving over $1 million in annualized recurring revenue in under 12 months of opening. That’s not a projection — it’s what’s already on the ground.”

Ramsey believes the early performance validates Strong Pilates’ hybrid approach, which combines reformer Pilates, strength training and cardio into a single low-impact workout using the company’s proprietary Rowformer and Bikeformer equipment.

“The U.S. member is the most demanding in the world. They’ve tried every format, know what works and leave the second it doesn’t,” Ramsey added. “Strong’s unique blend of Pilates, strength and cardio is built for the modern fitness consumer, which is why the model holds its own in a crowded fitness market.”

The upcoming expansion marks the brand’s first studios in NYC, Boston, Charlotte and the Philadelphia market, while also strengthening its presence in California and Maryland. A Tribeca location is slated to open in October, marking Strong Pilates’ Manhattan debut, while Santa Monica will become the company’s second California studio following the opening of West Hollywood earlier this year.

Strong Pilates is also planning a third Maryland location in Gaithersburg in 2027, while newly signed franchise agreements will introduce the brand to Idaho, Florida, Oregon and South Carolina.

The expansion builds on Strong Pilates’ aggressive U.S. growth strategy unveiled last year. Last August, the company celebrated the opening of its 100th global studio, in New Jersey, and announced more than 150 U.S. locations were in development through a combination of franchise agreements, corporate-owned studios and a major partnership with fitness operator Momentic Studios.
