The round was led by COPA Innovation Laboratories and its investment arm, COPA Venture Capital, as part of a broader strategic partnership between the two companies. Founded in 2012, Shoot 360 combines machine vision, real-time analytics and gamified basketball training to give athletes instant feedback on shooting, passing, ball-handling and other performance metrics. The company now operates more than 65 locations across the U.S. and internationally, with a significant development pipeline and partnerships with several NBA teams. “This investment gives us the resources to bring that experience to more communities, accelerate our technology, and give more athletes the ability to understand their progress in real time,” Shoot 360 founder and president Craig Moody said. The funding comes as Shoot 360 pursues multiple paths to scale. In addition to expanding through franchising its own locations, the company has increasingly looked to major gym operators as a way to place its technology in front of more athletes without relying solely on opening standalone locations. Shoot 360 has been converting basketball courts inside select City Sports Club and LA Fitness locations into tech-powered shooting and training labs through a pilot with parent company Fitness International. Three City Sports Club locations in the Bay Area recently added Shoot 360 courts in partnership with the Golden State Sports Academy, while the broader pilot also includes locations in Oregon and Washington. credit: Shoot 360 Moody previously told Athletech News that partnerships with large fitness chains could help Shoot 360 enter new markets more quickly. “Collaborations with great brands like LA Fitness can accelerate our vision of bringing Shoot 360 to athletes everywhere, and help us enter key markets across the country much faster,” he said.
