Notably, the boutique fitness giant is positioning the new offering as an upsell: the integration comes with a $99 fee

Orangetheory Fitness is expanding its connected fitness offerings with the launch of OTconnect for Apple Watch, allowing members to use their own smartwatches to track performance during workouts.

Beginning Friday, members at participating U.S. Orangetheory studios can connect their Apple Watch to the brand’s proprietary performance-tracking system for a one-time $99 fee.

The integration allows members to monitor their heart rate, heart rate zones, calories burned and Splat Points — Orangetheory’s signature metric for time spent in elevated heart rate zones — directly from their wrists during class.

Members can also access post-workout performance summaries on their Apple Watch, with additional data and personalized insights available through the Orangetheory app.

“Allowing our members to connect their Apple Watch gives them another seamless way to stay connected to the data they care about that drives their progress, with a device they already wear and love,” said Orangetheory domestic brand president Stephanie Schon.

The launch gives Orangetheory members an alternative to OTconnect Beat, the company’s proprietary heart rate monitor, which will remain available.

It also builds on Orangetheory’s broader investment in connected fitness technology, including the recent introduction of Trends, an in-app feature that allows members to track their progress over time across key workout metrics.

The move comes as wearable technology continues to dominate the fitness industry. The American College of Sports Medicine recently ranked wearables as the No. 1 fitness trend for 2027, marking the category’s 10th appearance atop its annual rankings.

Orangetheory is also offering members who activate the integration up to two free months of Apple Music and Apple Fitness+.

OTconnect for Apple Watch requires watchOS 11.6 or later and is compatible with Apple Watch Series 6 or newer, Apple Watch SE models and Apple Watch Ultra models.

Orangetheory, part of Purpose Brands, operates nearly 1,500 studios across 49 U.S. states and 19 countries.
