Nike Closes Fitness Studios Across All Locations

Nike Studios, a chain of Nike-branded boutique fitness studios, has stopped operating, with most locations set to reopen under FitLab’s other boutique fitness brands

Nike Studios, the boutique fitness concept the footwear giant launched in 2023 alongside FitLab, has shuttered or suspended operations across all of its locations in Texas and California, according to widespread social media posts from members and trainers.

FitLab co-founder and co-CEO Brian Kirkbride confirmed the transition in a statement to Athletech News.

“After careful consideration, the majority of the Nike Studios locations will be transitioning to FitLab’s owned portfolio of fitness brands,” Kirkbride said, citing yoga brand Y7, small-group strength training brand Racked, Mile High Run Club and XPT, a performance wellness brand founded by Laird Hamilton and Gabby Reece, as the receiving brands.

“We are excited about what this evolution means for our communities and look forward to sharing more as these locations come to life in the very near future.”

Former Nike Studios web addresses now redirect to Nike’s main website.

The Irvine, California, location — one of nearly a dozen across the two states— held its final classes March 27, according to a closure email the studio sent to members. 

The email was then shared in Irvine’s Reddit community.

In the same thread, a commenter who identified themselves as a Nike Strength member in Austin, Texas, said they had also been notified their studio was closing.

Athletech News reported the Nike Studios launch in August 2023. The deal saw Nike offering a network of boutique fitness studios, including Nike Training Studios and Nike Running Studios, in partnership with FitLab.
