John Meloun has left Xponential after an eight-year stint as chief financial officer. Robert Julian, a former Callaway Golf exec, will serve as interim CFO

John Meloun, Xponential Fitness’ chief financial officer since 2018, has left the company, marking the latest transition moment for the fitness and wellness franchisor.

Xponential announced the move on Wednesday, with Robert Julian taking over as interim CFO as the franchisor searches for a permanent replacement.

“On behalf of the entire Xponential team, I would like to thank John for his significant contributions to the company over the past eight years,” Xponential Fitness CEO Mike Nuzzo said. “We appreciate his efforts and wish him continued success in his next chapter.”

Julian previously served as CFO of online luxury clothing marketplace TheRealReal and Callaway Golf.

“Looking ahead, I have full confidence in Robert’s ability to lead the business forward as he assumes the interim chief financial officer role,” Nuzzo added. “Robert brings deep financial expertise, significant public company experience in the consumer space, and a steady, strategic approach that will be invaluable as we focus on execution to drive long-term value for our franchisees, partners, and shareholders.”

The C-suite shake-up comes as Xponential deals with recent turmoil.

Last month, the company agreed to pay nearly $40 million in settlements to resolve a Federal Trade Commission investigation and claims from current and former franchisees.

Voss Capital, Xponential’s largest shareholder, urged the company’s board to consider a sale in a letter penned last week. The hedge fund effectively argued that Club Pilates, Xponential’s largest and most successful brand, is financially undervalued due to the franchisor’s current corporate structure.

Xponential Fitness had 11 boutique fitness and wellness brands in its portfolio at its height in the beginning of 2024. After offloading several brands, the company currently has five brands: BFT, Club Pilates, Pure Barre, StretchLab and YogaSix.

Xponential has hired a “leading search firm” to conduct a search for a permanent CEO, it said.
