Alongside the release of “Wicked: For Good,” Erivo brought her love of running to the Peloton studio to join instructors for a conversation about the movie, plus community, mind and body
As the much-anticipated “Wicked” sequel rolls out in theaters, actress Cynthia Erivo used her running background to join Peloton instructors for an exclusive walk and run class.
The on-demand, 45-minute session served as a cross-promotional opportunity, as Erivo was joined by instructors Matty Maggiacomo and Olivia Amato to emphasize the themes of friendship, strength and community in the movie franchise and Peloton space.
The class also features Peloton instructors Rebecca Kennedy, Ash Pryor, Kirsten Ferguson and Tunde Oyeneyin as participants, with a backdrop of R&B songs and queer anthems, with music from the “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good” soundtracks.
Erivo, who has completed several half and full marathons, including the New York City Marathon, discussed her relationship with running with the instructors, as well as how the sport feeds into her mind-body connection.
“Every time I have a big event or a big run or something, I always need to clock into my body,” she told the instructors during the class. “And to be able to do that here, it’s just a dream come true because I’ve always wanted to do this. I’ve been running on the Peloton for a very, very long time.”
She also revealed how she would practice singing while on the treadmill. Additionally, Erivo dove into her passion for animal rights advocacy, a central theme in the “Wicked” movies.
Erivo’s class is another instance of Peloton leaning into relevant, culture-forward content opportunities, including the return of instructor Cody Rigsby’s hit Peloton program, “Tea Time with Cody.”
Elsewhere, former Peloton star Kendall Toole is coming back into the virtual fitness spotlight with the recent launch of her own app, “Never Knocked Out.”
