The Extraordinary Brands-owned concept is growing across several U.S. markets following a rebrand and a broader push to strengthen franchisee operations

Neighborhood Barre is accelerating its expansion efforts.

The boutique fitness franchise is opening seven studios over a roughly six-month stretch, expanding its footprint across North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Illinois as parent company Extraordinary Brands looks to accelerate growth of the barre concept, it said.

Neighborhood Barre opened studios in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and downtown Melbourne, Florida, in early July, followed by an Apex, North Carolina, location on Sept. 21. A Kernersville, North Carolina, studio is also open and will hold its grand opening Oct. 9.

Next up is Germantown, Tennessee, which is scheduled to open Oct. 5, followed by Naperville, Illinois, in late Q4 2026 and Durham, North Carolina, in the first quarter of 2027.

The expansion follows several years of work behind the scenes to strengthen the franchise model, Neighborhood Barre founder and Extraordinary Brands chief operating officer Katy Richardson told Athletech News.

“We have spent the past several years strengthening every layer of the Neighborhood Barre business, from franchisee coaching and studio economics to the member experience,” Richardson said. “Most recently, we completed a comprehensive rebrand that included a new visual identity, evolved brand positioning and redesigned studio interiors.”

Richardson said that work has positioned Neighborhood Barre to enter its next stage of expansion with greater “clarity, discipline and confidence.”

The latest openings build on momentum ATN reported last year, shortly after Extraordinary Brands acquired Rumble Boxing and CycleBar from Xponential Fitness.

At the time, Richardson said Neighborhood Barre was already firmly in “growth mode.” She also said the concept had posted more than 20% average unit volume growth month over month beginning in its second month under Extraordinary Brands.

Neighborhood Barre, which Richardson founded before the concept joined Extraordinary Brands, offers strength-forward barre workouts with an emphasis on creating an approachable, community-oriented studio environment.

“Neighborhood Barre has grown up without losing what made it special in the first place,” Richardson told ATN. “We still believe deeply in the power of the neighborhood studio, but we now have the brand, systems and support structure to bring that experience to significantly more communities.”

Richardson says the brand is looking to distinguish itself in a crowded boutique fitness market through its combination of strength training and barre, along with the community focus reflected in its name.

“We deliver a sophisticated, strength-forward workout without the intimidation that can sometimes surround boutique fitness,” she said. “We give our clients a place to take control of their fitness and wellness journey in an environment that feels welcoming, empowering and genuinely connected to their community.”
