The “Father of Biohacking” is teaming up with Essentia to launch a new sleep system, pairing EMF-shielding materials with a study powered by Oura to measure gains in deep sleep, recovery and overall performance

Dave Asprey, founder of Upgrade Labs, has teamed up with Essentia, an upscale organic mattress company favored by professional athletes and wellness insiders, to launch a new sleep system designed to optimize recovery through biohacking principles.

The collaboration offers an upgrade option for Essentia’s Classic REM5 Active and Dormeuse REM9 Active mattresses, featuring enhanced, quartz-infused EMF protection foam, a graphene-infused organic cotton cover that amplifies EMF shielding and Essentia’s Beyond Latex Organic Foam, which Essentia says supports increased time spent in REM and deep sleep by 20 percent to 60 percent

“Getting good sleep is both an art and a science – yet the overwhelming majority of people have trouble sleeping, even those who have mastered every other aspect of their lives,” Asprey said. “Even if you had time to sleep an entire eight hours a night, would it be optimal, uninterrupted sleep? Would you wake up feeling 100% refreshed? Essentia has created a performance sleep mattress packed with patented technology, creating a sleep environment that encourages deep REM sleep cycles for truly rejuvenating sleep.”

The new sleep system is set to debut alongside a sleep study tracking participants’ biometric data before and after switching to an Essentia performance mattress equipped with the Dave Asprey Upgrade. Participants will use the Oura Ring Gen 4 to monitor sleep metrics such as REM, deep sleep, and heart rate variability to measure improvements in recovery and sleep quality. Study participants receive an upgraded mattress, an Oura Ring and a one-year Oura app subscription in exchange for their engagement in the study for an exclusive price.

“Partnering with Dave Asprey to develop this next-generation sleep system was a natural evolution for us,” said Essentia founder and CEO Jack Dell’Accio. “We’ve always pushed beyond traditional comfort and continue to dive deep into measurable recovery, integrating thermoregulation, EMF mitigation, and biometric tracking in a way that’s never been done before.”

“This is more than a mattress; it’s a precision tool for anyone serious about longevity, performance, and true biohacking,” Dell’Accio added.
