The recognition underscores CoverMe’s growing impact on fitness staffing as the “Uber of Fitness,” benefiting both freelance instructors and operators

CoverMe Fitness, a platform that connects gyms and studios with qualified freelance fitness instructors, has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2025 National Technology Awards: User Experience Technology of the Year and Healthcare Tech of the Year.

The company says instructors using the app teach 13 more classes per month on average, earn an extra £485 and save several hours monthly through automated invoicing and admin tools. For fitness operators, CoverMe addresses common pain points such as recruitment and class coverage, delivering a 98% cover rate.

“We couldn’t be prouder of all that CoverMe has achieved,” CoverMe CEO Rosanna Tucker said. “We’re on a mission to simplify the lives of operators and fitness professionals alike with a single solution that manages existing teams, workforce compliance, team reward and recognition and also solves recruitment issues while giving operators 15 hours of time back each week.”

Beyond serving as a digital resume where fitness pros can highlight their certifications, CPR credentials and class schedules, the CoverMe app also unlocks exclusive perks for users—from discounts on apparel and equipment.

Beverlee Brinkworth, CoverMe chief operating officer, noted that the app has been adopted by every operator that has piloted the system. As of now, the app serves more than 10,500 fitness professionals and 3,600 health clubs and leisure centers globally, including Virgin Active, Nuffield Health, Fitness First and Snap Fitness.

“Based on current growth, CoverMe will enable 3,420 gig opportunities every day in fitness this year,” Brinkworth added. “With swimming teachers, personal trainers and sports coaches now also supported. By 2026, we will handle 10,000 opportunities daily—3.6 million per year. Being named a finalist in two categories at the 2025 National Fitness Technology Awards and recognized alongside such influential companies demonstrates the impact our platform is making in reducing workplace stress, improving team engagement, and creating more opportunities for fitness professionals. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and only strengthens our commitment to revolutionizing the fitness landscape.”
