Sounds good: A new audio wellness series on Apple Music blends science, sound and top hits to help listeners focus, relax and improve their sleep

Apple Music and Universal Music Group (UMG) have launched Sound Therapy, a new audio wellness series that merges cognitive science with curated tracks from UMG’s global artists. The collection features subtle auditory enhancements, such sound waves and psychoacoustics designed to promote focus, relaxation and improved sleep.

The new offering follows the launch of Apple Music Chill radio station, where mindful moments are woven in to remind listeners to find their center.

“For years, elevating music’s role in health and well-being has been a strategic priority for UMG, linked to a potentially significant commercial opportunity, as well as something that our Chairman and CEO, Sir Lucian, and the entire management team, are passionate about,” UMG EVP and chief digital officer Michael Nash said. “Given Apple’s leadership at the intersection of health and technology, the launch of Sound Therapy represents an important validation of our innovative, science-led Sollos initiative. We look forward to working closely with the team at Apple to expand the ways that music can be harnessed to improve the wellness benefits for its users.”

Crafted by a team of producers, scientists and audio engineers at Sollos, a wellness-focused venture within UMG, Sound Therapy features reimagined versions of songs by artists including Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Ludovico Einaudi and Jhené Aiko. The collection is organized into three categories: focus, relax and sleep, with each track enhanced using targeted sound frequencies to support specific mental states.

“Every day, people around the world make Apple Music part of their daily routine, and we’ve seen incredible engagement around our personalized mood playlists and the new Apple Music Chill radio station,” Apple Music’s co-head Rachel Newman said. “Now, with Sound Therapy, we’re proud to work alongside UMG and Sollos to bring a new listening experience to Apple Music — one that’s grounded in artistry, shaped by innovation, and designed to support wellness.”
