Peloton Brings On Leslie Berland as Chief Marketing Officer
The connected fitness company says Berland will report to CEO Barry McCarthy and serve as a member of the leadership team
Peloton has announced the appointment of Leslie Berland as its Chief Marketing Officer.
Berland will report to Peloton’s CEO, Barry McCarthy, and serve as a member of the connected fitness company’s leadership team.
The new Chief Marketing Officer, a Boston University graduate, comes to Peloton from Twitter, where she served as CMO.
According to her LinkedIn page, Berland has also worked for American Express in marketing leadership positions, GCI Health, and Ketchum. She also spent four years as an Ad Council Board Member.
In a post on LinkedIn, Leslie Berland echoed McCarthy’s sentiments that Peloton is headed towards a comeback story. While the connected fitness brand reported an operating loss of $1.2 billion in Q4, Peloton’s CEO said that the loss reflected “significant progress” as the brand continues to re-architect the connected fitness business.
“The best possible story is a turnaround story! Peloton is an amazing brand with wonderful, talented people and huge opportunities ahead. Can’t wait to jump in!” Berland posted on the career networking site, announcing her new position. “Big thank-you to Barry McCarthy and the Peloton team and Board, and to the great Gail Tifford. Appreciate you all. Lets go!”
Berland’s new position is effective January 18, and she will be based in New York City.
“Leslie is an accomplished marketer, with proven experience guiding brands in transformation. She understands the critical importance of storytelling and engaging current and future Peloton Members,” said McCarthy of the new appointment. “As we continue our pivot to growth, showcasing the magic that drives people to Peloton and keeps them so passionate and engaged is essential. She and the marketing team will play a central role in broadening our reach, appeal, and impact.”
In September, Peloton announced that Dara Treseder, head of marketing, would be exiting her position and moving to Autodesk as CMO.
