Monse says it’s time to make a fashion statement

Monse, a NYC-based luxury label founded in 2015, has joined forces with Equinox to give performance-based sports leisurewear a fashionable upgrade. The Monse x Equinox capsule collection is now available exclusively in select Equinox clubs and on its site

The collection, Monse says, is for modern women who seek to stand out from the crowd.

Monse celebrated the launch with a post on Instagram, sharing: “Through a collaboration with the fitness and wellness operation Equinox, Monse’s Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia have dreamed up directional, performance-oriented pieces.”

The capsule collection piece includes zig-zag bras, crop tops, and leggings with a “deconstructed perspective.” Monse merges fashion and fitness in the new collection with cutouts, twisted tailoring, Monse logo tape, and pieces in an electric blue.

In addition to crop tops and leggings, there is a cozy yet functional Monse cold shoulder sweatshirt that is offered in black. Two more fashion drops are planned.

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, founders of Monse, met on the design team at Oscar de La Renta. As their bond grew, the two decided to launch Monse. Kim has called the pairing a perfect combo, noting that while she is “balanced and tough,” Garcia prefers more of the drama and romance.

Garcia has said that Monse aimed to be less fussy than other brands. “The market needed more clothes that made the girl look like it took five minutes to get ready, which is usually the most attractive girl in the room. We didn’t think it was going to be like Oscar, and we didn’t want it to be,” Garcia told CFDA.
