The wellness brand behind hot-cold rituals and sober raves is building its most ambitious space yet as it pursues more expansion across the U.S.

Othership is deepening its New York City presence with a new Upper East Side location, announcing plans to open a 14,000-square-foot space in 2027 that will feature the brand’s first “social spa” concept.

The location, positioned at the corner of 86th and 3rd and shared with brands like Lululemon, is the company’s largest buildout to date. The move follows the momentum of Othership’s Flatiron and Williamsburg locations in NYC, both of which have opened within the last year and a half.

“Our vision for the Upper East Side is to create an elevated bathhouse for New Yorkers where restoration and emotional connection are part of the same experience,” said Robbie Bent, co-founder and CEO. “This social spa concept reflects everything we’ve learned about how people want to feel today and is meant to provide a place to pause and reset outside of the busy rhythms of daily New York life.”

Othership partnered again with Futurestudio and founding principal Ali McQuaid Mitchell to shape the aesthetic of its next phase. The design leans into natural materials, tactile finishes and a broader visual palette.

At the center is a planned 4,000-square-foot social spa that reinterprets communal bathing. The space will feature a neutral-temperature pool, communal cold plunge, hot tub, ritual sauna, sound sauna, steam room and experiential showers. Programmed moments throughout the layout encourage gentle social interaction, supported by unique scents and sensory-driven design choices.

“We want people to move through it almost like a shared meditation,” said co-founder Amanda Laine.

The Upper East Side location will also offer Othership’s growing catalog of guided classes. Signature experiences include Music Discovery, which blends live performance, sauna heat, towel-waving and plunges. Friendship, an evening designed to spark meaningful connections, and Lovership, the brand’s energy-forward social experience that moves guests between a DJ-led sauna session and invigorating ice baths. Each class is led by trained guides and rooted in nervous system regulation, a cornerstone of Othership’s philosophy.

Othership, which raised $8.5 million earlier this year, is actively pursuing additional expansion in New York and across other tier-one cities in the U.S., the brand confirmed to ATN.

“Manhattan’s Upper East Side is one of the most significant opportunities for Othership’s expansion nationally given the sheer density of their core customer in the neighborhood,” said CBRE executive vice president Cassie Durand. “It’s fitting that the largest and most dynamic Othership location to date will be opening here.”

Founded in Canada during the pandemic, Othership currently operates two physical locations in Toronto and two in New York, alongside an expanding digital breathwork app.
